Central highlands
The Central Highlands is the general name given to the plateau lying Southwest of the Truong Son range. The plateaux are: Daknong, Ma, Jiring, Lang Biang, Daklak, Mdrak, Pleiku, Konhanung,and Kplong......
There are five provinces in the Central Highlands named Lam Dong, Daklak, Daknong, Gialai, Kontum and Dak Nong at the elevation from 500 m to 1,500 m above sea level and with the annual average.

The Central Highlands cover a natural area of 55,000 square kilometers, bounded in the West by Cambodia and Laos, in the North by the forests and mountains of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai provinces. In the East by provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and in the South by Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai and Binh Thuan.
It is in the belt of the tropical monsoonal climate of the Southeast Asia with two distinct seasons: wet (from May to October) and dry (from November to April next year).
In the Spring, rivers flowing down the broken topography create the poetic and imposing falls_such as Draysap, Gia Long, Trinh Nu, ponggour…Lakes as Lak, Tnung, Dankia, Androet.
The Central Highlands have high broken topography, covered with fertilebasaltic soil and the abundant eco-system; the savannahs and jungles with over 3,500 species of flora and over 600 species of fauna. Among them 17 have been classified in the Red Book. With the peaks like the roofs like peaks of Ngoc Linh (2,598 m). Chu Yang Sin (2,405 m), Lang Biang (2,167m), Drasana, Bidoup…the Central Highlands shelters over 5 million inhabitants of many native ethnic groups as Viet, Jarai, Ede, Sedang, Bahnar, Kho, Ma, Churu, Gietrieng, Mnong, Brau, Reman.
These unique ethnic groups have managed to preserve their own distinct life- styles and traditional cultures as they have done for thousands of years.
On coming to the Central Highlands, don’t miss a trip to the villages or jungles on elephant-back. Standing on a mount summit you can see the whole landscape stretching before you, take a dugout canoe on the calm water of Lak, giving you the opportunity to take part in the local traditional custom whilst enjoying the fresh air of this wild region.
